The poor lad and his family deserve justice. What a way to depart this earth.

Strange situation isn't it?

If an asylum seeker robs a packet of opal fruits from the local McCalls there are pages and pages of universal condemnation.

A local lad is horribly murdered, the perps are given life and not a mention.

Nowt as queer as folk eh

Tom he wondered why there was no comment from the hang them high brigade from WW Members over the Liam Smith case. The lad who was shot and had acid poured over him.

Maybe it might have been a better way of starting this thread by saying "Isn't it sad that". Unfortunately true colours are showing through by making a tragedy into a personal attack.

Angelwood it was a very sad case of MURDER but why should the scum who did this be kept in prison. It is the same with the Nurse who killed the known seven babies plus maybe more besides Given life sentence and been told she will never be released. Cold comfort for the grieving parents. These murderers should be legally eradicated. There was a saying "hanging is to good for them" but is it

We have no deterrents now, so major crimes like murder, manslaughter, rape, child abuse etc will increase pro rata with the increasing of the population.

But at the same time, the number of Police officers will not be likewise.

Thanks Sidney Silverman, you did a great job as a MP in helping to make our country into what its now where crime is concerned!

The judge who pronounced sentence on those wrongly found guilty of the Guildford pub bombings said he would have given a death sentence were he so permitted: not only were they later proved not guilty, but the police knew them to be so, and had suppressed the evidence which should have emerged in their initial defences.

The Guildford 4 and Birmigham 6 verdicts were political while the Shrewsbury 24 verdict was anti Trade Union by the establishment.

Nothing to do with any debate on what type of punishment should be given by the courts to deal with the major crimes taking place everyday by ordinary members of the public as a result of not having any proper detterents to deal with the crimes.

If we now have life imprisonment instead of capital punishment, it should be what it says, life imprisonment and not a hotch pot of different tariffs dependant on what Judge is giving out the punishment.

Tom it was attempted murder and therefore not a hanging offence In this day and age if there is no doubt about the offence of murder then the death penalty should apply. There could be a police/political stitch up or a miscarriage of justice but if there is any doubt at all then jail time until the correct verdict is reached. Some lifers have a better life than some of the families of their victims. It is no good harping back in time to cases what about prisoners who have been given LIFE SENTENCES and are now free now. We read about these cases on a daily bases
